Yes, a gas-fired power station would halve the pollution from Eraring but that could still be as much as 10,000 tonnes of pollution every year.
And, yes, it may be true that we can't afford it, but we can't afford ever-increasing billion-dollar storms or multi-million dollar bushfires, or billion dollar subsidies to the fossil fuel industries.
It’s a question of priorities.
