Sarkies and Queenslander Andrew Dodt each posted 5-under totals of 139 for rounds on Saturday and Sunday.
The 47-year-old Sarkies carded rounds of 74 and 65 to get the nod from Dodt (69 and 70). Jacob O’Brien (72-68) was third, a stroke behind Sarkies and Dodt.
Mitchell A Brown (71-70), Leigh McKechnie (72-69), Andrew Martin (72-69) and Alex Edge (74-67) were a further shot back, tied for fourth.
Morisset professional Dave Stretton said it was the best field ever assembled for a Morisset Pro-Am.
Among the other notable players in the field was James Nitties (71-71) and Matthew Millar (74-68) who tied for eighth, and Nathan Grren (76-70) who tied for 19th.
Morisset Golf Club social media co-ordinator Hannah Stretton said the club enjoyed the biggest turnout of spectators for a pro-am.
“We estimate there was about 600 people here over the three days,” Ms Stretton said.
She said feedback on the event had been very positive from players, sponsors and members.
First-time major sponsors of the event, Fujitsu, were happy, she said.
“Fujitsu has indicated that they’ll be back to support the event again next year,” she said.
The pro-am got off to a sensational start on Friday at the pros’ shoot-out.
Kurri Kurri professional Chris Ford won the nearest-the-pin competition when he holed his approach to the 18th green from about 100 metres.
The annual shoot-out is a highlight of the weekend.
Club patrons take up vantage positions on the balcony of the club, and surround the green, to watch the pros fire at the flagstick.
A tricky pin placement on a sloping section of the green protected by a bunker raised the degree of difficulty for all players.
Not long after MC Dave Stretton playfully chastised spectators for being hard markers and not applauding enthusiastically enough for good strokes that finished on the green, Ford gave them something to cheer about.
His wedge approach landed on the high side of the flag, gripped, and trickled into the hole.
Ford collected $500 for his win, and was generously applauded on the green.
Ms Stretton said the club’s Facebook page was busy over the weekend, with members encouraged to post pictures and updates.
