That and the three Gs she has long lived by – gardening, golf and grog.
“What I mean is I used to enjoy a nice glass of red wine while I was preparing dinner. That’s all!” she hastened to add, laughing.
Ms Henry celebrated her 103rd birthday (June 1) with her golfing friends at Toronto Country Club on Wednesday.
Woolworths at Toronto donated a large cake for the occasion, and the women were in good spirits after a competition round of golf.
“They’ve got such a wonderful sense of joy,” Ms Henry said of her colleagues.
“And I like that they all enjoy being physical. That’s important,” she said.
Ms Henry’s love of golf blossomed in the 1950s, and by 1957 she was on the steering committee for the old Kilaben Bay golf course, later serving the ladies club as president, captain, secretary and publicity officer.
“I still like to be physical, and spend a lot of time gardening,” she said.
