Wyong Shire Council took advantage of the recent wet weather to carry out maintenance work to its netted swimming pools at Vales Point, Mannering Park and Lioness Park, Gwandalan.
These spots are well-used for swimming, fishing and boating, particularly during the summer season.
While the rain kept residents and visitors away, the council contracted divers to inspect and repair the swimming nets. This is just one of the ways the council is working to keep the shire’s waterways clean.
This year the council will upgrade 10 Gross Pollutant Traps, which protect the lake by stopping rubbish and other pollutants from entering the waterway.
Deputy mayor Lynne Webster said these would help keep storm debris out of the lake.
“The lakes really are the jewel of our shire and a huge drawcard for visitors and residents and we plan on keeping it that way,” she said.
