Among providers who will be taking part in the Aged and Community Services Australia's national open day is the Royal Freemasons' Benevolent Institution Lake Haven Masonic Village Hostel in Christopher Crescent, Lake Haven.
"The open day is a global initiative that aims to celebrate ageing and dispel some of the myths that may be associated with aged care facilities," the hostel's leisure and lifestyle manager, Leanne Gallagher, said.
The hostel will hold its open day this Saturday.
"It encourages people to visit their local providers and see for themselves the excellent services on offer and the fantastic work taking place in aged care facilities."
Among the activities planned at the Lake Haven Masonic Village Hostel are a free barbecue, pizza and high tea.
There will be a jumping castle and an animal farm for children.
Health checks, such as blood pressure and blood sugar levels will be available, along with tours of the facility.
A variety of stallholders will also be present on site.
The hostel's open day activities will be held from 10am to 2pm.
"We just want to open our doors to the community and make them feel welcome to come and have a look inside," Ms Gallagher said.
