FOR just $6, children can enjoy an unlimited all-day pass on amusement rides at Morisset Community Festival.

So when it comes to an affordable and enjoyable family day out, the festival is hard to beat.

This year's festival will be held at Morisset Showground on Sunday, May 18, from 9am to 3pm.

Other highlights will be animals from Hunter Valley Zoo, a vintage and classic vehicle show, and a stack of on-stage entertainment.

Festival president Bob Starling said the annual event was also a showcase of not-for-profit (NFP) organisations.

"If your group is planning to have a stall on the day we urge you to get in now and not miss out," Mr Starling said.

Local churches, the Girls Brigade, Meals on Wheels, and Lake Macquarie Historical Society are typical of the NFP participants.

The festival is a chance for NFP groups to raise money through raffles and sales, Mr Starling said.
