Last week, the Lakes Mail incorrectly reported that a revised lease agreement had been reached between the club and landowner Drysdale Metals.
Drysdale Metals is, in fact, simply considering a request from the club for a new lease.
The company last year applied to rezone the site to allow residential and commercial operations.
This application was rejected by the elected councillors at Lake Macquarie City Council.
On Monday, Morisset Country Club chief executive officer Ian Taylor sought to clarify the situation.
"There is no lease," he said.
"We have requested a medium to long-term lease, and we believe that Drysdale Metals is in the process of drawing up a proposal that they will put before us."
He said he did not know what terms might be included in that proposal, or whether the terms would be acceptable to members.
