Morisset golf course landowner weighs move

LANDOWNER Drysdale Metals will spend the Christmas break considering its next move in the battle to rezone Morisset golf course land to permit housing and commercial development.

Lake Macquarie City Council voted unanimously on December 2 to reject a rezoning application.

Locals believe that Drysdale Metals will mount a court challenge to the council decision, or seek to sell the land.

"All available options are being considered," company spokesman Glen Drysdale said.

"What is certain though is that Drysdale Metals can no longer subsidise the golf course and prudent commercial decisions are required for 2014 and beyond."

Morisset Country Club chief executive Ian Taylor said discussions were imminent.

"We can't really comment on Mr Drysdale's statement until we meet with him, hopefully over the next couple of weeks, to discuss the options that may be available to all parties," he said.
