The intersection has long been slated for the installation of traffic lights.
Work would involve gathering samples of the pavement and using high pressure water to create small holes to determine the depth of utilities.
“These investigations will provide data to inform future planning for the area,” an RMS spokesperson said.
The work will be done from Monday, November 27, to Monday, December 4, and is expected to be completed in four shifts, weather permitting. No work will be carried out at the weekend.
A reduced speed limit with lane and shoulder closures will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
“Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out,” the spokesperson said.
