Wyong’s Sarah Leete is proving that no matter how far you travel, and how much you achieve, home is always where the heart is.

After attending the Academy of Country Music in Tamworth, and winning a Young Regional Artist Scholarship from Arts NSW, the country singer is preparing for her EP Launch Tour, with the main event set for The Art House in her home town.

“It’s a little bit of a homecoming, yeah,” Leete said of the Central Coast launch. “It’s really exciting and also really scary. It definitely helps that I’ve got this launch for my new music but with so many people there that I know. It makes it really special.”

“[The Art House] seats around 150 people, so it’s the biggest venue for the tour. This is my first lot of ticketed shows and this is my first project that I’m putting out in the world.”

The launch tour, and especially the gig on the Central Coast, has a purpose for Leete as she looks to get her original music out to the public for the first time.

“I want to show the world what I’ve been doing, and what I’m going to be doing next,” she said. “It’s really exciting that my first stops for that will be Wyong and Newcastle. I like to be strategic about where I go and to go ‘home’ is crucial for that, gets confidence returning to the coast.”

“Once I’ve got my footing locally I’ll have to stretch myself a bit more and head away to go to towns and areas that I haven’t been before. I’ve gotten a bit lucky, and a bit spoiled for choice, because there’s people that I know here in Wyong and up the coast, so there’s people that will happily support me.”

The call of home runs through everything Leete produces, including the new-release music video for her lead single, ‘Safe’ – Central Coast locations stars in the clip, as does country singer’s dog Grace.

It’s a message that Leete felt was important to her with her first music video release, and was glad that she could star alongside her faithful companion.

“It’s just a fun video that we made for the track, but for me it has a lot of deeper meaning as well,” she said. “I felt like that was really important for myself with something like this. A lot of the things that I am doing at the moment will be great memories and I like adding the meaning to them too.”

“You’d be surprised what you can get a dog to do when you have treats as well. [Grace] did exceptionally well, she’s a really good dog.”
