The Kookaburras lost to Waratah-Mayfield on the Duckworth-Lewis method at Waratah Oval.
Batting first in the 40-over fixture, the home team managed 7-185 after slumping to 6-68 at one point.
Waratah’s Blake Morley top scored with 88 not out. He combined with wicket-keeper Josh Brackenbury (32) to resurrect the second half of Waratah’s innings.
Toronto’s Ray Steadman claimed 2-38 from seven overs, as the remaining Toronto bowlers shared a wicket apiece.
Wicket-keeper Jeremy Ford claimed a catch, but also managed two stumpings off seam bowlers – one each off Mitchell Glennie and Griffin Lea.
In reply, Toronto were 5-99 in the 29th over when rain forced a premature end to the game.
Waratah-Mayfield were declared winners on the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Josh Westwood was moved up to open the innings for Toronto and top-scored with 27.
Captain Andrew Jeffrey batted at No 3 and was unbeaten on 22. Ford was the other unbeaten batsman, on 11.
Elsewhere, Newcastle City 6-252 defeated Wallsend 9-221 (on Duckworth-Lewis method); Merewether 115 defeated Belmont 76; Hamilton-Wickham 178 defeated Wests 153; Stockton-Raymond Terrace 6-175 defeated Cardiff-Boolaroo 8-119 (on Duckworth-Lewis method); and University 5-191 defeated Charlestown 8-102 (on Duckworth-Lewis method).
After three rounds of the premiership, Toronto has some work to do. They sit in 11th position on 5 points.
Newcastle City leads on 19 points, from Wests (18) and Merewether and Charlestown (both 16).
Toronto Workers will host Wallsend in another 40-over fixture at Ron Hill Oval this Saturday from midday.
Wallsend is 9th on the ladder, on 8 points.
