A MAN has been arrested and charged over the alleged theft of more than $60,000 worth of jewellery.

Police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command have been investigating multiple stealing offences, in particular the theft of rings valued at more than $60,000 from a jeweller at Charlestown on Sunday, September 24.
Following extensive inquiries, about 2.50pm yesterday, police attended an address at Tingera Heights where they arrested a 25-year-old man. Police allege the man was also in breach of an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order at the time.
He was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with larceny greater than $15,000; intimidation (x2); armed with intent; stealing, armed to avoid apprehension; and breach AVO.
He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court.
