Competitors as young as 7 competed in 17 fleets of boats and windsurfers at the three-day regatta.
“We were amazed by the number of entries for what we think was the biggest regatta ever held on Lake Macquarie,” Australian Sailing’s regional manager, Declan Brennan, said.
“It was definitely the biggest regatta held so far this year in Australia. With 80 per cent of competitors and their families travelling from outside the local area, the event was a massive economic boost for the local community.”
At the prize giving on the final day of competition, winners were presented their medals by sailor Tom Burton, a gold medallist from the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Lake Macquarie MP Greg Piper also attended the presentation.
