Toronto suffered their second consecutive loss in the 40-overs format, this time falling 27 runs short of Belmont’s 9-189 at Les Miller Field.
Toronto club captain Jeremy Ford said the Kookaburras improved, but still came up short.
“That was one that got away from us,” Ford said.
“To restrict Belmont to less than 200, we were really pleased with that.”
Toronto’s English import Stephen Croft claimed 3-43 with his leg-spinners.
Toronto lost 3-16 and struggled early.
“I think we need to respect the pink ball a bit more. It swings an absolute mile,” Ford said.
Opener Corey Brown (38), Griffin Lea (25) and Andrew Somerville (24) had Toronto on track, but a second-ball duck to skipper Andrew Jeffrey derailed the rescue, and left Ford unbeaten on 21.
