Now, he’s bound for Newcastle on a national tour for his 10th studio album.
The afro and soul patch he was known for in his first years may be gone, but his talent for producing music is still as strong as ever, as he prepares to release the new album, Conscious.
Although the album is set to be released Friday, October 27, the first new single, High On Me, is available now.
Sebastian, who has spent the last decade on the road performing and sharing his music, thought that a direction of positivity was the next step for him in his musical career, and aimed for an upbeat single with his new release.
“I feel like I’ve had so many ah-ha moments this last year. One of the biggest is that every now and again everybody just needs a reason to let go, smile and dance,” Sebastian said of the inspiration for ‘High On Me’.
“High On Me came about while I was in Bali on a writing trip, surrounded by mountains and yoga enthusiasts who like me seemed high on life at the time.
“I really wanted to create a soulful earworm that would make young and old want to get up out of their chair and enjoy the moment.”
With a new album comes the national tour, and Sebastian will be arriving at the Newcastle Civic Theatre on Saturday, November 4, alongside special guest Matt Gresham and a band boasting electronic and organic elements.
“This album has been one of my most creative projects to date,” Sebastian said of the upcoming release.
“I am looking forward to creating some magic on the road and showcasing these songs in a way that no one has seen me do before.
“I’m really looking forward to it.”
Tickets, available from Ticketek, for the performance are on sale now from $86.
The Lakes Mail has a double pass (two tickets) to give away to the Newcastle Civic Theatre performance on November 4.
