The plan is to carry out minor, preliminary burning today, which would generate low levels of smoke from 10am to 4pm.
The burn would continue in earnest over Saturday, September 2, through to Sunday, September 3.
The burn will target 498 hectares of bushland between Bunning Creek Road, Yarramalong, and Hunts Road, Kulnura.
Forecasted winds are likely to blow smoke towards the Yarramalong Valley.
The burn will start at 8am on both days of the weekend, with the majority of the burn completed by 10pm Sunday.
Ongoing patrols will be undertaken Saturday and Sunday evening. Ongoing patrols throughout the following week will be undertaken until no longer required.
A helicopter will be operating throughout the burn area on both days.
There may be some smoke and fire activity visible from local roadways during and after the hazard reduction operation.
Motorists in this area should slow down and take care if driving through smoke, including keeping windows up and turning their headlights on.
Residents in this area should take the appropriate precautions including keeping doors and windows closed, removing washing from clothes lines, and ensuring any pets are in a protected area.
Residents may also experience discoloured water due to fire fighters extracting water from the water mains during the hazard reduction operation.
