The proposed zone would extend from the intersections with Nichols Avenue to Valencia Street. The move is designed to improve pedestrian safety in the zone.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the state government had allocated $210,000 for the potential change.
“In the five years to June 2016 there were 20 crashes on Wallarah Road, between Nichols Avenue and Valencia Street, including one fatal crash and 11 injury crashes,” the spokesperson said. “Four crashes, including the fatality, involved a pedestrian.”
The RMS recently completed a public consultation period on the proposal, and said the community would be kept updated.
