One southbound lane of the motorway was closed approaching the twin service centres.
The crash site has been cleared but traffic is queued around 5 kilometres so motorists are advised to allow extra travel time until the delays ease.
All northbound lanes of the motorway are open but northbound traffic is also heavy through the area.
