Council’s community planning acting manager Andrew Bryant said council had taken inspiration from the park’s setting, and had customised the play equipment to complement the surrounding environment.
“The first stage of the works – a surfboard flying fox and wave-climbing structure – will sit alongside a new accessible amenities block which will be constructed in the next few months as part of the Stage 2 works,” Mr Bryant said.
The park will be closed from Monday, July 31; however pedestrian detours will be put in place to allow access to the existing beach paths.
Stage 1 works at Webb Park are expected to be completed in time for the September/October school holidays, which also mark the start of council’s professional beach lifeguard patrol season.
This project is funded by Section 94 development contributions.
