Blake Minto of Toronto wins World Boxing Foundation's international lightweight belt at Detonation 9 fight night in Newcastle

TORONTO boxer Blake Minto won the World Boxing Foundation’s vacant international lightweight title against veteran Mark Sales at the ‘Detonation 9’ fight night at Newcastle on Saturday. Minto’s fight plan worked a treat: he out-boxed the awkward southpaw, dragging Sales into “the deep water” of the full 10 rounds to secure a unanimous points decision. In April, Minto won the Australasian welterweight belt.
