While public servant wages in NSW have been capped at 2.5 per cent for years, and annual wage growth in Australia is stuck at an anemic 1.9 per cent, Cr Fraser will enjoy a whopping 29 per cent increase that will see her pay rise from $87,590 to $113,280.
The pay bump was passed without comment on Monday, and comes thanks to an independent Local Government Remuneration Tribunal last month decided to reclassify the pay scales for Newcastle and Lake Macquarie in the wake of the NSW government’s local government mergers.
