In fact, all four of Lake Macquarie City Council’s holiday parks have received a 2017 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award.
The council operates Belmont Pines Lakeside Holiday Park, Blacksmiths Beachside Holiday Park, Swansea Gardens Lakeside Holiday Park and Wangi Point Lakeside Holiday Park.
Now in their seventh year, the awards celebrate hospitality businesses that have consistently achieved great traveller reviews on TripAdvisor over the past year.
Council’s property and business development manager Kate Cramp said it was a great result.
“All of our park managers are focused on providing excellent customer service and are to be congratulated on receiving this recognition,” Ms Cramp said.
“Independent traveller reviews are closely monitored by council’s holiday parks’ team and used to continually improve customer service and visitor experiences.
“All four parks are nearing completion of an extensive $8 million capital works program over the last six years that has been funded wholly from park revenue and has delivered a range of improved facilities to the parks.”
Works have included new amenities blocks, swimming pool upgrades, office extensions, new cabins including accessible cabins, multipurpose recreation buildings, camp kitchens, road reconstructions, new powered sites, electric supply upgrades and landscaping works.
TripAdvisor is the world’s largest travel review site.
It selects its Certificate of Excellence winners by taking into account the quality and quantity of reviews submitted by travellers over a 12-month period.
A business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor rating of a least four out of five and a minimum number of reviews to qualify for the award.
In 2016, council was awarded a NSW Local Government Excellence Award, in the asset management category, for its operation of the holiday parks.
