Without umpires, there would be no games and foundation umpires are at the beginning of their umpiring journey.
Beginning with an online umpiring course, these young netball lovers achieve the necessary skills and knowledge to be an effective umpire and enjoy their officiating role through a combination of written work, practical training, and game experience.
The foundation umpire course contains five modules, each with an online exam. The modules include: a good umpire; getting started; umpiring techniques; the rules of action; and where to now?
Learning how to umpire a netball game is a prerequisite for all representative players as it gives players a broader view of the game, hones in on the rules, and teaches them how to anticipate play.
There is also a small cash incentive for those who volunteer to take on this challenging yet rewarding task.
