Record attendance at fifth annual You're Kidding Me Expo at Glendale

THERE was a record turnout yesterday for the You’re Kidding Me Expo at Glendale.

More than 500 people attended Event Cinemas for the annual Lake Macquarie event.

Now in its fifth year, the expo allows Lake Macquarie families to connect with local service providers offering free advice and information to support the care of young children.

Council’s community planning manager, John Ferguson, said often families contact council asking what support services are available in Lake Macquarie? The expo is designed to provide the link between families and those local service providers.

“The expo brings together many services, resources, program providers and experts to the one place, so that parents can connect with them and know when to find them, when they need it the most”, Mr Ferguson said.

Council also runs the You’re Kidding Me program throughout the year.

Since its inception last year, the program has delivered 65 free workshops for families and carers with more than 1100 people registered for these events up until the end of May this year.

The program workshops focus on various areas of child development, including early literacy, speech and language development, brain development, social and emotional development, and healthy active children.
