MOTORISTS and boaters are advised of changed traffic conditions on Swansea Bridge from Monday, May 22, while essential maintenance work is carried out.

The work forms part of Roads and Maritime Services (RMS)  annual maintenance program.

Work will include inspecting and testing the bridge’s electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components and emergency systems. Some hydraulic equipment will also be updated.

Work will be carried out for three nights between 7pm and 5am, from Monday, May 22, to Wednesday, May 24, weather permitting.

The southbound bridge will be closed on Monday and Tuesday night and the northbound bridge will be closed on Wednesday night.

One bridge will remain open at all times with one lane operating in each direction.

Skippers are advised the bridge will not be open for marine traffic while work is carried out.

To ensure the safety of workers and motorists a temporary 40km/h speed limit will be in place during work hours and traffic control and signs will help direct motorists.
