The group had been active in the community for 45 years.
The population of Bonnells Bay is greater than it has ever been, so why has membership become an issue?
Former president Col Roach said the problem was not unique to Bonnells Bay.
Raising a young family is a fulltime job, leaving this age group time poor.

“The vast majority of community groups are suffering from a lack of involvement by the community and thus falling memberships,” Mr Roach said.
He said the community had changed and priorities had shifted.
“Over the past 20 years the demographics of the peninsula have changed markedly with an increase in younger families moving into our area. Raising a young family is a fulltime job, leaving this age group time poor and making it very difficult for them to be involved with community groups like progress associations.”
He paid tribute to the association’s former members and acknowledged the results that had been achieved through working closely with Lake Macquarie City Council.
