Global Smart City and Community Coalition video Lake Macquarie to showcase tech initiatives

CHICAGO. Amsterdam. The Hague. Lake Macquarie.

Each of them smart cities, and each now featured in a video showcasing their smart city credentials.

Representatives of the Global Smart City and Community Coalition (GSC3) have been in Lake Macquarie this week to film a 360-degree virtual reality video.

The city signed a memorandum of understanding with The Netherlands-based GSC3 in November 2016 to facilitate collaboration and information sharing with its member cities.

The group also filmed Cr Kay Fraser, who took part in a discussion panel of city leaders at the Australian Smart Cities and Infrastructure Summit, in Sydney.

“The video will sit alongside those of international cities such as Chicago, Amsterdam, Genoa and The Hague, showcasing our city and highlighting our smart initiatives,” Cr Fraser said.

“It will focus on the ways we are harnessing technology to connect our communities, improve engagement and enhance digital literacy.”

On Thursday, at the summit in Sydney, Cr Fraser was part of a local government panel discussing the role of digital technologies in creating smart communities.

“Participating in these events is a great way to gather and share ideas that will help us develop and implement new technologies and diversify our economy,” she said.
