It’s the first time in history the surf boats have taken to Lake Macquarie to compete in state titles.
The Masters surf boat events are being held at Croudace Bay today.
The Open events begin tomorrow, and a decision will be made on whether to move the surf boats back to Blacksmiths Beach in the morning.
Lake Macquarie City Council and Dantia have secured the NSW Surf Life Saving Championships at Blacksmiths Beach for the next two years.
The championships began on Saturday, February 25, and will finish this Sunday, March 12, with up to 20,000 competitors, officials, supporters and spectators expected to attend.
