“There will literally be thousands of people on the shore and in boats to witness the annual spectacular,” the club’s operations manager Angela Sanders said.
“It’s an amazing event and tradition, brought about by the local community and businesses who contribute to the fireworks donation fund, which Wangi RSL proudly administers.”
And for the first time ever, the club will be open for Christmas lunch this year.
Mrs Sanders said an enticing menu had been prepared.
It will feature hot and cold selections of seafood and ham, plus a complete carvery of roasted meats with all the trimmings plus desserts, teas and coffees.
Cost is $95 for non-member adults, $80 for adult members, $30 for children 12 years and under with no charge for kids under five with adults.
The club had undergone a transformation in the last 12 months, Mrs Sanders said.
The club faced an uncertain future three years ago, so community, club members and staff partnered up to give the venue a facelift in facilities and format.
Modern, stylish indoor and outdoor furniture were installed to enhance the decor and take advantage of the view, Mrs Sanders said.
A new kitchen with new caterers boasting extensive experience in food and hospitality have provided eating facilities the envy of the Hunter, highlighted by a delicious all-you-can eat buffet each Thursday starting December 15 and running throughout the Christmas holiday period.
And a revamped entertainment schedule is bringing patrons the hottest acts in club land week in week out, including a popular cabaret every second Tuesday of the month.
“Our first cabaret in October sold 66 tickets, the second cabaret in November sold 156, and we are already up to 100 tickets for the Christmas cabaret,” Mrs Sanders said.
“The changes we have achieved with very little money to improve the club, bar, poker machines and food have been amazing,” Mrs Sanders said.
“The future is bright and this Christmas/New Year we want people to share our little secret.”
