After three trifecta losses on the horses, the man decided to buy a ticket for Saturday’s Lotto draw.
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, went into Aberdare Newsagency on Tuesday to buy his next round of tickets when he discovered he picked all six winning numbers in Saturday’s Lotto.
After realising he had won the division one prize worth more than $686,000 the man said all he could do was shake with excitement.
“I’ve had my ticket sitting on the table at home and I’ve just been staring at it – I can’t believe it’s won!” he said.
“I never check the results myself I just put it through their outlet machine and they tell me then if I’ve won anything.
“I’ve had a couple of little wins, you know $25 here, $25 there – but nothing like this.
“I was pretty shaken up and literally shaking all over at the news I’d matched all six winning numbers.”
Aberdare Newsagency store manager Shilpa Halai said the result was their first division one win in at least two years.
