A section of Jewells along Doongara Close will be reclassified as Windale under the Geographic Names Board proposal.
The change will also move an area along Burton Road near Casson Avenue into Eleebana from Mount Hutton.
Board chair Narelle Underwood said Lake Macquarie City Council proposed the amendments to put the areas more in line with what local residents were using.
The plan is on public exhibition, with submissions accepted until November 14.
