The community event has grown significantly from its early years as a school fete.
It is now a dynamic, community driven event that sees thousands flood through the school gates to enjoy live entertainment, carnival attractions, helicopter rides, fun runs, a BMX pump track, and more.
As always, there was something for all ages, from toddlers to grandparents.
Playland was a popular attraction, offering attractions and rides for young children up to age 5. There were junior carnival rides, jumping castles, a giant fun factory, face painting, petting zoo, pony rides, plaster painting and a chill out zone where parents could relax and have a coffee.
For the bigger kids, the festival included popular carnival rides and activities such as dodgem cars, Surf’s Up, bungee trampolines, the Big Baller, slot cars and jet chairs.
This year saw the inclusion of laser tag, which proved popular with all ages, festival co-ordinator, Kerrie Howells said.
“What a fantastic inclusion laser tag was to Family Festival this year,” Ms Howells said.
“We saw kids lining up over and over again for multiple games with their friends”.
Parents enjoyed plenty of market and promotional stalls, while the live music and entertainment was also enjoyed.
“There was music pumping all day, with Avondale School students performing as well as professional bands and students from the National Music Academy and NX FM broadcasted live all day,” Ms Howells said.
“Avondale School’s Family Festival is our gift back to the community,” she said.
“It’s our way of saying thank you to our school families, neighbours, local businesses and friends.”
