Playing in his third pre-season game for Newcastle’s first team, the St Paul’s Booragul year 12 student opened the scoring five minutes before half-time with a confident finish from inside the box.
Eastern SC equalised through Croatian midfielder Miroslav Saric three minutes into the second half. The Jets regained the lead in the 86th minute with an Andrew Nabbout penalty after an Eastern SC hand-ball.
It was Newcastle’s second successive win on their tour of China, after beating Liaoning Whowin 3-2 on Saturday. Wednesday’s game was played in stifling summer conditions in southern China.
Brymora, who scored 11 goals in 16 games for the Jets youth team in the Northern NSW NPL this season, earned a penalty against Liaoning that was successfully converted by Andrew Hoole in the 66th minute.
He debuted in Newcastle’s 3-1 FFA Cup loss to Melbourne Victory, finishing that match with five stitches in his head.
Jets coach Scott Miller said Brymora and fellow 17-year-old Cameron Joice would both receive further opportunities in the next game on tour, against Kitchee SC.
“The youth team boys will certainly play a part … they are mature young boys, young men, and they are taking on the information well, but now it is about seeing it in context in an environment that will challenge them,’’ Miller said.
