The school will stage its four-yearly mega musical, this year’s called Oz, from Wednesday, September 14 to Friday, September 16.
“Three captivating performances will showcase the students’ talents in the creative and practical arts including writing, acting, singing and dancing,” deputy principal, Jason Clenton, said.
Oz has a distinctive Australian twist.
Set in a small Australian outback school, Dorothy and the unsuspecting audience are swept away by the Wicked Wind of the West and transported to a number of fun themed lands.
Along the way Dorothy meets a range of characters and is helped to learn positive behaviours taken from the school’s ‘You Can Do It’ social skills program like organisation, confidence, persistence, resilience and getting along.
The script was written by students and staff and includes musical numbers created by each grade from kindergarten to year 6.
“The show has been four years in the making and has involved a mammoth effort not just by the staff and students, but also by the countless parent and community volunteers, especially in creating the spectacular costumes and sets,” Mr Clenton said.
Tickets are on sale now from the school office.
