I took over the role of acting president in March this year when the then-president relocated out of the area. I have been involved with SBCCA since its inception in 2007.
I currently wear three hats – treasurer, vice-president and acting president. The reason being that no one else would take on these roles.
I am getting on in years, and it is now time to step aside and allow new blood to take SBCCA forward.
Morisset is regarded by Lake Macquarie City Council as a new hub under its Lower Hunter Strategy Plan. As a result, there have been new residential and commercial developments and more are planned.
Consequently the Morisset area needs a strong representative voice to speak on behalf of the community to council, governments and other relevant authorities.
SBCCA has made numerous submissions to various authorities on matters affecting this community.
We have a part-time paid co-ordinator, administrative assistant, and book-keeper.
We really need your help on two fronts – firstly to replace me in the respective positions and, secondly, further support for membership, especially from the business community.
If this support is not forthcoming then, unfortunately, we would need to consider closing down SBCCA.
Email us at coordinator@southlakemac.com or phone 4973 7004, or my mobile on 0409 129 054.

Am I invisible?
IT’S difficult to find good service, but this is ridiculous.
At a local cafe it took 30 minutes and three reminders to get our coffee, with no apology.
At a local charity store I had no purse with me. They said it was not their policy to hold a jacket for me overnight.
I borrowed $10 from a friend at the post office who said “no trouble”.
At a local restaurant I asked a waitress to clean the table. She said she would do so after we finished dining.
At another cafe I asked for hot water. When I went to pay, they charged me $4 for the privilege.
At a local gift shop, the shopkeeper said they would see to me then served six others before getting back to me.
Am I invisible?

Plan short on detail
NSW Greens senator Lee Rhiannon claims to have a fully costed plan for Australia’s conversion to 90 per cent renewable energy in the next 14 years.
How about a few details, Ms Rhiannon? Like how much is fully costed in dollars?
How many megawatts would be supplied, especially with the expected growth of an extra 20 per cent of users in the next 14 years?
And how would this renewable energy work during peak demand when the wind stops blowing and the sun stops shining?
Anything is possible if one has a money tree, but unfortunately these are in short supply on this planet.

Vile online messages
A CENTRAL Coast chiropractor admits posting abusive, vile, sexual, racist online messages to Nova Peris. In the era of the internet, being a racist shows how ignorant and how low in society you really are. Love for all, hatred for no one.

Where blame lies
THE Liberal Party continue to blame Labor and its Medicare scare campaign for its bad results in the election. They are to arrogant to admit that maybe the voters did not like their policies.
