Sherriff, 30, who plays out of Ettalong Memorial, added to his 2010 crown by defeating Brett Wilkie 21-15 in the men’s decider at Broadbeach on Friday. This made for a Hunter double after Natasha Scott, 25 of Raymond Terrace, clinched the women’s prize on Thursday.
In the women’s pairs Scott and Carla Krizanic were beaten at the semi-final stage on the Gold Coast after going down 19-18, despite leading by two and holding two shots before opponent Bec Van Asch delivered a match-winning last bowl.
Australian selectors are expected to announce the Jackaroos squad for this year’s World Championships in the coming weeks with Scott and Sherriff both in contention.
