But isn’t it great when a tribute act not only sounds authentic, but the band members also look like the guys they’re honouring?

That’s the deal with Killer Queen, the international touring act that’s heading to Morisset Country Club on Saturday, July 9.

Killer Queen is led by John Blunt, who has the Freddie Mercury looks and stage moves to go with his Mercury-like renditions.

In 2010, Blunt took the stage in a lookalike competition for the French television show Qui Sera Le Meilleur Sosie? in front of seven million viewers globally.

Australian audiences might recognise the Brisbane man from Australia’s Got Talent.

Since that appearance on Australian television, Killer Queen has become Australia’s premier international touring Queen tribute.

This year will see the band tour Singapore, China and Brazil, while Blunt has also been busy in the UK filming a special project set for international release later this year, as well as recording a single due for release in October which pays homage to Mercury.

According to Blunt, the secret to the act’s success is simple.

“We are constantly touring, always looking for new audiences that want to experience the feel-good feeling that Queen gives you,” he said.

“Last year we toured India, and the reaction from the people to Queen’s music was the same as any other country we have toured, the same emotion and excitement is felt throughout the world.”

The show at Morisset will include two hours of Queen hits such as Another One Bites The Dust, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You,  Under Pressure, Radio Ga Ga and Bohemian Rhapsody, and numerous costume changes.

Doors open Morisset Country Club at 8pm.

Support act The Mirrors will be on stage from 8.30pm.
