Harry Kettles, 13, of Windermere Park earned his selection after helping Hunter to an unbeaten run to the title at the NSW Country Rugby Championships at Lismore at the weekend.
Kettles, who attends St Paul’s Catholic High School, at Booragul, was one of eight Hunter players chosen after the team’s 32-nil win over Far North Coast in the final.
Last year, while at St John Vianney Catholic School, at Morisset, Kettles was one of just 30 boys from around the state chosen in the inaugural Trac Tahs, a Waratahs’ training pathway for tight five forwards. He will remain in the Trac Tahs to age 18.
In the meantime, Kettles is looking forward to a three-day training camp with the NSW Country team at Campbelltown before the match against Sydney Zone on July 17. A tour of the ACT follows on July 30 and 31, with a showdown against City on August 6 and 7.
