Coaches have been happy with the results and, more importantly, how the players are developing and improving as a team on the downhill run to the state and state age championships.
At Maitland, the 12s played five games for three wins, and a couple of losses by a few points. Different combinations are developing nicely which is encouraging. Coaches Nat Carver and Sharon Naylor are looking forward to the state age titles.
Coach of the 13s, Tracy Baldock, was proud of her team’s performance at Maitland. After asking them to step it up, play harder, and play as a team, they did exactly that and achieved five wins from six games.
The 14s were undefeated at the Newcastle carnival, and at Maitland they faced tougher opposition from teams in higher divisions. The local girls’ losses were by small margins.
Coach of the 15s, Denise Wiltshire, said her team displayed great teamwork at Maitland for three wins and three losses.
Karen Daniels, coach of the 17s, said her girls are working hard and have a fantastic camaraderie. This was apparent at Maitland where they would come from behind to win by a few goals through sheer hard work.
With replacement players and a new coach in Lee Jones, the open team is on track for success at the state titles with continued commitment and more hard work.
Well done to all Westlakes teams.
