The awards will be presented by the Ageinglife Network.
They aim to recognise and reward the outstanding work of staff and organisations across the local aged care and disability sectors.
Nominations are being sort by organisations, recipients of care, and their family members.
Ageinglife Network event manager Elyce Bichel said the awards recognise “those who go above and beyond”.
“Day after day aged care professionals, carers and organisations are working tirelessly to improve the health outcomes of our older Australians and those living with a disability,” Ms Bichel said.
“The awards are a way to celebrate the outstanding leadership, innovation and care undertaken by the many individuals and organisations working in the Hunter region.”
Nominations can be made in the following categories:
- volunteer of the year;
- home care employee or service of the year;
- aged care employee, trainee or executive/manager of the year;
- residential aged care employee or facility of the year;
- disability sector employee or trainee of the year;
- disability service of the year;
- retirement village of the year;
- community group or business recognition award;
- culturally diverse or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander project recognition; and
- aged care innovation project of the year.
Ms Bichel said anyone can nominate an individual or business who they believe is making a noteworthy contribution towards the care and wellbeing of aged, frail and vulnerable local people.
Nominations are open until May 31.
