The match pits the club’s sailing and cruising fraternity against the fishing club crew, and was again the major drawcard for RMYC Toronto’s Australia Day fun.
“We had a much bigger crowd this year, with people watching from the club’s balconies, upstairs and downstairs, plus on the grassed areas around the shore,” Anglers XI vice-captain Tony Cummins said.
Batting first, the Anglers XI made 97. The Boat People responded with 109.
Boat People captain Isaac Cruckshank, 10, was named most valuable player.
“Young Isaac was hitting our bowling all over the park, err, I mean lake,” Mr Cummins said.
The match was not without incident.
“The Boat People’s wicket-keeper, who was fully clothed, twice ended up in the drink when he over-stretched trying to take catches,” Mr Cummins said.
