The powerhouse trio of Rai Thistlethwayte (vocals, piano, guitar), Phil Stack (bass) and Matt Smith (guitar) will take Thirsty Merc’s Good Life tour to Caves Beachside Hotel this Friday night, February 5.
This year marks the 12th anniversary of Thirsty Merc’s arrival onto the Australian music landscape.
Along the way there’s been a swag of classic, radio staples such as 20 Good Reasons, Someday Someday, Mousetrap Heart and In The Summertime.
Last year the band tackled the recording and release of their fourth studio album, Shifting Gears, and first new material in five years, independently, and very differently.
“We’ve haven’t really stopped since 2002, and being around for over a decade, we’ve got lots more experience than when we started,” Thistlethwayte said.
“We’ve also got still got loads of energy, and we want to harness that energy to work hard, around the clock, to continue touring and making good music.”
Tickets for Friday night’s gig at Caves Beach cost $35.
Across the lake on Friday night, Adam Brand and the Outlaws will perform at Toronto Workers Club.
The band’s tour is to promote the debut self-titled album. The Outlaws are an all-star line-up of Australian country musos in Drew McAlister, Travis Collins, Matt Cornell and Mike Carr.
Tickets cost $40 (or $38 for members).
