MORISSET Bulls continued their charge to the semi-finals with a 36-8 win over Abermain in their rugby league match at Morisset Showground on Sunday.
The result moved Morisset to 18 points and into a share of second spot on the Newcastle Hunter Rugby League's C Grade ladder.
Morisset co-coach Peter Burgess said the winning margin was indicative of his team's superiority but it was their controlled approach that really impressed him.
"Things are coming together well for us at the right time. Our discipline was very impressive," he said.
"We were again very respectful of the referee, which was great."
Morisset won the penalty count 12-4 and, after the game, the referee complemented the Bulls on their attitude, Burgess said.
Morisset led 26-0 at the break and 36-0 deep into the second half.
"Then we let two late tries in down our left side which was a bit disappointing," Burgess said.
Bulls centre Kelly Hall opened the scoring with a try in the 15th minute.
It was the catalyst for some nice backline raids and set moves, Burgess said.
Halfback Jarhn Komene and five-eighth Nathan Cliff provided the spark in attack.
Komene earned the three points from the referee while Cliff's passing and kicking game - which included a 40-20 kick - caught the coach's eye.
Fullback Mitch Kaufmann was the players' player while utility Jed Molliner impressed off the bench.
"And our captain James Deaves was unstoppable at times," Burgess said.
A highlight of the lock's performance was a 50-metre solo bust.
"We're really on track and have our eyes on the prize," Burgess said.
Morisset has a bye this weekend.
