In comparison, Newcastle City councillors voted against a pay rise in May.
They decided to channel the money saved into a Wallsend town centre project.
On Monday, Lake Macquarie councillors also voted to write to Premier Mike Baird and Local Government Minister Paul Toole to request that any rise in their wages be determined independently.
