Hosted by Illawarra District Netball Association over the June long weekend, the State Championships is a three-day competition bringing together elite netballers from across the state, with state champions in each division crowned at the end of the final day.
This year WDNA 17s team are competing against a pool of 19 teams in the Championship Division, 12 of which are large Sydney associations.
Also sharing this division are local teams Charlestown, Newcastle and Wyong.
Westlakes president Pamella Burt said the players have trained hard this year, and have encountered a few obstacles with injuries and a lack of senior carnivals to compete in.
"If our girls concentrate on their own game and their own abilities they will do fine," Burt said.
"Westlakes is truly proud to have a team representing us in the Championship Division."
The Westlakes open team has also had a run of injuries in the lead up to the State Championships, at which they will compete in the regional-dominated Division 2.
The results have been consistently good for the opens team and some new additions to the team have them in very good stead for the Illawarra fixture.
