IN this day and age - when we are subjected to witness such things as dogs being stolen for dog fights, and teenagers being charged with plotting terror attacks - I find it disheartening that Lake Macquarie City Council would decide that a car and its trailer parked on the empty block at the roundabout at Morisset Golf Club was such a crime that it warranted issuing a fine and a directive to pack up and leave.

The car and its trailer were parked there for a few hours on Mother's Day so that people could stop and buy their mums, or other special ladies in their life, a bunch of flowers.
I found this to be disturbing, particularly when on the same block they were issuing the fine from, there was a heap of illegally dumped rubbish.
Council would do better to investigate things such as this illegal dumping, instead of issuing a fine to these people who made a few dollars that they will now be paying back in fines.
The people selling the flowers don't set up there each weekend making a heap of money, and using the land for free.
Maybe the council should have wandered up past the golf course entry after they fined these people and issued fines for those who use the outside of the golf course as a car yard.
