Front rower Eloni Vunakece has been selected in the Fiji Bati squad to contest the Pacific Test against Papua New Guinea this Saturday, May 2, on the Gold Coast.
Wyong Roos football manager Matt Lavin said Vunakece has been one of the Roos’ best players this season and his selection for is thoroughly deserved.
‘‘He’s been a shining light for us this season,’’ Lavin said.
Roos’ hooker Mitch Williams was also selected to captain the NSW Residents team for the third year in a row.
Normally played as a State of Origin curtain-raiser, the Residents clash has been moved to the representative round.
Williams spent the off-season training with the Sydney Roosters and Lavin said his outstanding form has been a big part of the Roos’ success.
