A group of dedicated women have knitted more than 400 woollen poppies, 40 of which they gave to a student from Baker College who has travelled to Gallipoli for this year's Anzac Day service.
Some of the poppies have little notes attached and will be laid for those at the retirement village who had a husband or father who fought in one of the World Wars.
The poppies will also be used at the village's own Anzac Day service.
Jean Hatcher organised the project and said the poppies will add something special to the occasion. She will be on a cruise and will miss the village's service, but she will be taking one of the poppies with her to wear at the ship's service and remember those who have fallen.
