Wangi Lions Club will again host the event at Rathmines Community Hall.
Opening night for the festival is next Friday, May 1, and continue over the weekend.
Among local artists putting the finishing touches to their entries is Graham Cox, a regular entrant since 2010.
"I love to go in this show," he said.
This year, he will enter his painting, Lake Macquarie Sunrise, in the oil category.
The festival was also a great forum for young and aspiring artists, Mr Cox said.
The paintings, sculptures and crafts sections at this year's festival will be as popular as ever.
Organisers say the new youth section, for under 18s, attracted interest with its $250 prize.
Wangi Workers Club has sponsored the $1250 Dobell Prize, which will go to the artist judged to have the best overall exhibit in the show.
