AFTER a refreshing two-week break, it was all hands on deck at Westlakes District Netball Association with round four of the local competition taking place on Saturday, and a carnival for junior teams at Willoughby on Sunday.
Division one of the local competition saw last year's premiers Bolton Point Doodlebugs and runners-up Rathmines Raptors win convincingly.
Rathmines Wildcats defeated last year's division two premiers Morisset Wii Not Fit 45-33 in a game that was closer than the scoreline indicates.
In umpiring news, Westlakes would like to congratulate Clair Webster on obtaining her national C-badge.
She was awarded her badge at the recent NSW Academy games held on the Central Coast.
Clair and fellow Westlaker Caitlyn Chalmers umpired over the weekend at the Academy Games.
The game's organisers informed Westlakes umpiring convener Karen Smith that both girls did a fantastic job in divisions one and two.
"Being badged through the Academy of Sport has been a huge and very involved process and the girls have had to work extremely hard to achieve their results," she said.
"The next step for both these young ladies will be to work towards obtaining their national B-badge, which will involve plenty more umpiring at club, representative and academy levels along with a theory and practical assessment."
The Westlakes representative open team is looking for a couple of players; ideally candidates would have midcourt experience.
With the state championship eight weeks away, players need to be fit and capable of playing at this level. Any interested parties can contact Pam Burt (0411 461 694) and their details will be forwarded to team management.
